About the role

The TCS Technical Manager, reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Director is responsible for coordination, planning and execution of engineering aspects of the Satellite thermal subsystem design, development, assembly, integration and test while supporting the Manufacture and Test Operations and Mission Operations departments in achieving a quality, elegant technical solution as well as leading a team of thermal engineers.  The role will be permanently based in Prestwick, Scotland with limited domestic and international travel.

Requirements for the role

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering,

  • Considerable relevant experience of Engineering Management experience on at least two Space flight development programs,

  • Extensive experience of Space flight program design, development, assembly, integration, test and flight operations experience,

  • Multiple demonstrable conflict resolution experiences from technical, programmatic, personnel and overt lessons learned.

  • Demonstration of successfully leading small teams.

Preference may be given to candidates with

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering,

  • Demonstrated specific technical management experience with a Commercial Telecommunications Space development program.

  • Demonstrated specific successful experience in an early new organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate through Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action process to achieve a quality, elegant, effective way forward

 

 

You will be responsible for

 

  • Hands-on coordination, planning and execution of engineering aspects of the Satellite thermal subsystem design, development, assembly, integration and test, and on-orbit operations.

  • Enabling cooperation and continuity while providing direction to ensure programmatic cost and schedule requirements are achieved,

  • Humbly managing a team of thermal engineers with dignity and respect,

  • Rigorous development, implementation and enforcement of processes and procedures across thermal engineering disciplines.

  • Close coordination and cooperation with other engineering disciplines and subsystems shall be routine and required.
