About the role


The Satellite Command and Control Ground team will integrate with the overall mission resource management system enabling the Satellite Operation Centers (SOC) to conduct satellite services reliably and safely in support of the overall Mangata Networks mission.


This is an exciting technical position reporting to the Director of Satellite Operations and Engineering, leveraging technical and professional skills to lead the full lifecycle development of a satellite command and control ground system architecture.


This position offers ample growth and stretch opportunities to impact the success of the Satellite Operations and Engineering team. You will gain experience with the full software lifecycle including design, development, test, implementation, and maintenance.


Requirements for the role


  • Working with monitoring and control of satellite ground control equipment (e.g., satellite telemetry and command modems, telemetry displays, CCSDS telemetry/telecommand standards)

  • Working with or leading software development life cycle methodologies.

  • Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices.

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Leading technical projects in an operational environment and/or in satellite operations.  

  • Familiarity working within or implementing an ITIL framework in an operations organization.

  • Cloud, network technology, and implementation experience would be beneficial.



You will be responsible for


In the beginning through coordination with Operations leadership, Space Systems Engineering, and Ground Engineering, you will develop an architecture compatible with overall mission objectives:


  • Define satellite command and control ground system Interface Control Document (ICD) and Technical Requirements Document.

  • Specify and publish Request for Information (RFI) and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs) to possible vendors

  • Perform make/buy trade analysis and present justified recommendations to Operations leadership.

  • Define a work breakdown schedule for the control ground system architecture.

  • Develop budget proposals and assist with project tracking.

  • Define software development and engineering talent requirements.


As you develop and build the necessary resource requirements and support team, you will help:


  • Select vendors and develop strategies for satellite command and control ground system integration through analysis and design review.

  • Integrate satellite command and control solutions with a Dynamic Satellite Simulator and/or system emulators

  • Develop ground system maintenance guides, user manuals, and training plans.

  • Participate in space segment and ground segment end-to-end system testing.

  • Be part of the team to launch and operate the most innovative MEO constellation in the solar system!
