About the role

The EPS Technical Manager, reporting directly to the Electrical Engineering Director, is responsible for coordination, planning and execution of engineering aspects of the Satellite Electrical Power subsystem (EPS) design, development, assembly, integration and test while supporting the Manufacture and Test Operations and Mission Operations departments in achieving a quality, elegant technical solution as well as leading a team of power subsystem engineers. The role will be permanently based in Denver, Colorado with limited domestic and international travel.

Requirements for the role

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering,

  • Substantial relevant experience of Space flight program design, development, assembly, integration, test and flight operations experience on at least two programs,

  • Demonstrated technical oversight for all elements of the electrical power subsystem including Solar Arrays, Battery, and Power Control & Distribution Unit.

  • Demonstration of successfully managing small teams at all levels of engineering discipline and experience.

  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, current and voltage meters, electronic loads, and power supplies.

Preference may be given to candidates with

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering,

  • Demonstrated specific technical management experience with a Commercial Telecommunications Space development program.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate through Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action process to achieve a quality, elegant, effective way forward.

  • Considerable years of experience in power control electronics development

 

 

You will be responsible for

 

  • Hands-on coordination, planning and execution of engineering aspects of the Satellite Electrical Power subsystem (EPS) design, development, assembly, integration and test,

  • Vigorously providing leadership to design teams, both internally and externally, to drive requirements definition, system-design/architecture, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, Part Stress and Worst Case analysis, testing/qualification, and production planning,

  • Objectively trade different power electronics topologies (technical as well as programmatic) to propose the most optimal architecture capable of reliably operation,

  • Managing a small team of electrical engineers with dignity and respect,

  • Rigorous development, implementation and enforcement of processes and procedures across electrical power engineering disciplines.
