About the role

As the Director, Terminal Development, you will be responsible for the design, development, procurement, and implementation of our customer terminals.  Mangata will be deploying thousands of these user terminals to work in a variety of different verticals (fixed, maritime, cloud, etc).  Role responsibilities include the design, development, and life cycle management (automation and process improvements) of the different terminals. Mangata is looking for antenna engineers with experience in small antenna design, phased array and reflector antenna systems, and/or antenna test and design validation.

 

Requirements for the role

 

  • Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering degree (BS/MS or similar) with a deep knowledge of RF and telecom theory

  • Extensive industry experience

  • Relevant experience as technical project manager / team lead for antenna development

  • Thorough understanding of RF passive components

  • Familiar with radio related test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generator, network analyzers

  • Experience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequencies

  • Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK and QAM

  • Understanding of electromagnetic propagation and antenna systems

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects

  • Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time, to domestic or international sites

 

 

You will be responsible for

 

  • Lead the analysis, design, specification, implementation, and test the customer terminal

  • Derive RF hardware and software specifications for the terminal

  • Evaluate and characterize prototypes and RF components

  • Characterize and analyze full radio performance

  • Assist in the development of automated test equipment for lab measurements

  • Work with 3rd party vendors on production of antenna components

  • Work with payload engineers to formulate the requirements for the satellite modem

  • Efficiently own, follow-up and implement the related full project life cycles, including requirements collection / definition, architecture, design, development, testing and life-cycle management

  • Support the transition of the new products into operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place including life cycle support
