About the role

As the Director, Gateway Development, you will be responsible for the design, procurement, and implementation of our mission critical gateways.  These global gateways make up the internet backbone of our new satellite network.  Role responsibilities include site acquisition, site implementation (antennas and other supporting equipment), and life cycle management (automation and process improvements) of the system. You will work closely with business development, system engineering, satellite engineering, regulatory, and finance.

 

Requirements for the role

 

  • Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering degree (BS/MS or similar) with a deep knowledge of RF and telecom theory

  • Extensive “hands-on” engineering experience working as a GW/RF Systems Engineer

  • Experienced in various ground monitoring & control and any other kind of monitoring systems

  • Experience managing technicians, contractors, or construction projects

  • Familiarity with global shipping, packaging, customs compliance, and logistics

  • Familiarity with common utility AC and DC power distribution

  • Business development and/or regulatory experience

  • Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time, to domestic or international gateway sites

  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand

 

 

You will be responsible for

 

  • Lead the analysis, design, specification, implementation, and test of gateway, antenna, and RF systems

  • Assess candidate ground station technical and commercial feasibility

  • Manage vendors, third party contractors, and internal teams to arrange permitting, construction, and deployment of sites

  • Support the design and prototyping of future ground station hardware

  • Efficiently own, follow-up and implement the related full project life cycles, including requirements collection / definition, architecture, design, development, testing and life-cycle management

  • Lead the coordination across all internal Mangata teams, business development, system engineering, satellite engineering, regulatory, legal, and finance.

  • Responsible for writing the CONOPs for gateway operation and interface to the other Mangata systems

  • Support the transition of the new products into operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place including life cycle support
